Acrylic on gessoboard - 11 x 14 - 2016
Spring in the desert brings the life-affirming sight of cacti blooming. Feeling the joy of this special sight, I stopped to look at and photograph them. Fortunately, there is open land in this area; so, no one seems to mind!
I found my eye drawn to the contrast between the centers of the blossoms and the folds radiating outward from them. So, in this painting, I focused closely on them, leaving the background a bright blue, reflective of the sky that day. I used acrylic on gesso board.
