Lively Lemons 2

Acrylic on gessoboard - 9 x 12 in - 2013

I have a miniature Meyer lemon tree in my studio. If you don’t have a plant “companion” already, I recommend one of these; they don’t require too much care; their blossoms make a heavenly scent, and they produce lemons several times per year.

In a playful mood, I heightened its spring colors, and worked with an acrylic additive aptly called tar gel (it behaves like hot tar- stringy and sticky) to outline parts of it. I then added contrasting purple shadows using textured acrylic. Since I was interested in trying different compositions for this piece, I ended up making two, Lively Lemons 1 and 2.

This original painting has been sold, but if you are interested in a high-quality fine art reproduction (giclée), please contact me using the Contact form or the email box above.
