Acrylic on gessoboard - 10 x 8 in - 2012
I have painted in many different styles throughout my life. I started out very realistic in approach, then migrated to impressionist, and later to abstract. In recent years, I have swung back in a more realistic direction, but while integrating my love of abstraction and texture, resulting in a style I can best call “expressionist”.
One sunny afternoon, with light coming through the lemon tree in my studio and casting shadows, I went back in the more abstract direction. I applied acrylic paint, bright colors, and heavy texture to gessoboard to capture the happy, peaceful mood I felt.
